Phase one is now complete!
On October 2, 2004 the Corvallis School District and the CCEC Foundation held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open phase 1 of the CCEC Project. This exciting day was the grand opening of the brand new soccer fields, the community park and the new playground. The new park was named "Big Blue Park" by then 4th grader Riley Nagel. Mrs. Reinke's 3rd grade class officially named the playground "Blue Devil Kingdom". The retail cost value of Phase 1 was well over $300,000, but due to the hard work of many volunteers, and the in-kind donations of several businesses, this phase was completed for only $75,000!
Phase two is under way!
On May 3rd, 2006 a ground breaking ceremony was held to officially break ground on Phase 2 of the CCEC Project! Phase 2 will include the following:
- Excavation and all earth work for the entire football field and track stadium.
- The base for the all-weather track. This will be an 8-lane track with a 10-lane straight-a-way.
- Completion of the football field.
- Underground sprinklers for the entire complex.
- Moving the current lighting, seating, scoreboard and goal posts from the existing field (unless alternate funding is secured).
The retail cost of this phase is $187,000. Over $50,000 has been raised by the foundation through fundraisers and donation. An additional $150,000 line of credit has been secured by 11 families in the Bitterroot Valley. This line of credit will be paid back by the CCEC Foundation over the next 10 years through our existing fundraising activities such as Viva Las Vegas, The Community Festival and the Bitterroot Blitz Dodgeball tournament.
